0120,2026

On January 20, 2026, a delegation from the Singapore Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) visited the Institute of Public Policy (IPP) and co-hosted a thematic research symposium. The two sides engaged in in-depth and fruitful exchanges on core topics including China-Singapore relations, China-Southeast Asia cooperation, U.S.-China strategic dynamics, and Asia-Pacific regional development.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Adrian Tan Tai Loon, leader of the RSIS delegation and Director of Policy Studies, emphasized that Singapore consistently regards China as a core strategic partner. Since the normalization of diplomatic relations, bilateral cooperation has continued to deepen and expand. Singapore's position as China's largest source of foreign investment is a significant testament to the effectiveness of bilateral mutual trust and cooperation. He further highlighted that Guangzhou and Singapore enjoy a solid foundation and great potential for cooperation in economic and cultural fields, with tremendous potential for broader and more pragmatic collaboration in the days ahead.

Professor Guo Hai, Executive Dean of IPP, extended a warm welcome in his speech, noting that this exchange has established a crucial dialogue platform for academic think tanks of the two countries. He expressed anticipation for deepening cooperation in key areas such as policy research and personnel exchanges, while drawing on Singapore’s mature experience in relevant fields to provide strong intellectual support for regional development.

The two sides also exchanged in-depth perspectives on issues including U.S.-China strategic dynamics and China’s important role in the Asia-Pacific region.
